Terms of use
These are short because the deal is simple. Tough Call is a free practice tool, offered in good faith, as is. By using it, you agree to what’s below.
What Tough Call is
A free trainer for volunteer baseball scorekeepers. It shows real plays and compares your call with the official scorer’s. It is not a scoring app, and it is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Major League Baseball, any club, or GameChanger.
Your account
An account is your email address. You sign in with a link we email you. Keep access to that email secure, and don’t make accounts for anyone under 13. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us.
Using it fairly
- Use it for your own practice, not commercially.
- Don’t scrape or bulk-download the play bank, the answer keys, or the API.
- Don’t capture, save, or redistribute the video. It belongs to MLB.
- Don’t try to break, overload, or get unauthorized access to the service or anyone’s account.
MLB content
Video and data are provided by MLB Advanced Media, L.P., and belong to MLB and its rights holders. Clips stream straight from MLB’s servers. Tough Call does not download, store, or re-host them, and does not use MLB’s marks in its name or logo.
MLB can remove clips or close access at any time, so any play may stop working without notice. When that happens, the play is retired.
Takedown requests
If you hold rights in something Tough Call shows or links to and want it removed, email treycsar@gmail.com with what it is and where it appears. We act on these promptly. If MLB asks us to stop using its content, we stop.
The answer key
Grades come from the official scorer’s ruling as recorded in MLB’s data. Official scorers make judgment calls, rulings are sometimes changed after the game, and data can contain errors. Tough Call is practice, not a rulebook authority. For a ruling in your own league, go by your league’s rules.
No warranty
Tough Call is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. It’s a free project: outages, bugs, missing clips, and wrong answers can happen. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses from using it or from not being able to use it.
Changes and shutdown
Features may change, and the service may be paused or shut down, including if MLB content becomes unavailable. If these terms change in a way that matters, we’ll update them here with a new effective date.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
